ABOUT us
San Pedro Fit Works is an appointment-only personal training and group fitness studio in San Pedro, California. Every personal trainer on our team holds a degree in kinesiology or exercise science. We don't just prescribe exercises. We assess how you move, identify what's holding you back, and build programs that solve the actual problem.
We approach your body as a system, not a checklist. Whether you're managing a chronic issue, training for performance, or building a sustainable fitness practice for the first time, you'll work with a coach who understands the science behind the program, not just the exercises in it.
We've extended our impact beyond the studio through our partnership with Cal State Long Beach's Kinesiology program, hosting interns who gain hands-on experience in a professional training environment.

the coaches
Our coaches hold university degrees, bring specialized backgrounds, and keep developing their craft. Here’s who you’ll be working with.

M.S. Kinesiology
Cal Poly SLO
Matt has been an endurance athlete since the age of eight, starting with junior triathlons and competing across multiple sports through high school. He has raced distances from 5K to Ironman, including: half-marathons, marathons, running a rim-to-rim crossing of the Grand Canyon, and a competitive Ironman personal best of 9:54.
After a brief stint as a business major, he found his way into exercise science when a faculty member invited him to work at the campus fitness facility, where he first learned to build training programs by coaching real people through them.
He holds an A.A. from Santa Barbara City College and a B.S. and M.S. in Kinesiology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
A turning point in his career came while teaching human anatomy at San Diego City College. The cadaver lab reframed how he thought about education itself; not just what to teach, but how to make knowledge applicable. Kinesiology is a degree most people in the industry quietly consider a dead end. He built a gym that requires one.
Matt oversees every client's exercise programming at San Pedro Fit Works and personally mentors every trainer on staff. He develops the studio's endurance and event training methodology and maintains an active coaching role with complex and performance-level clients.
